This book excellent book on Streams. From the beginning to end Kirtik explained very well. I implemented the streams couple of times earlier.
But after reading this book from 1 page to end page, I learned many things.

Stanford professor, Daphne Koller, and her co-author, Professor Nir Friedman, employed graphical models to motivate thoroughgoing explorations of representation, inference and learning in both Bayesian networks and Markov networks. They do their own bidding at the book's web page, [...], by giving readers a panoramic view of the book in an introductory chapter and a Table of Contents. On the same page, there is a link to an extensive Errata file which lists all the known errors and corrections made in subsequent printings of the book - all the corrections had been incorporated into the copy I have. The authors painstakingly provided necessary background materials from both probability theory and graph theory in the second chapter. Furthermore, in an Appendix, more tutorials are offered on information theory, algorithms and combinatorial optimization. This book is an authoritative extension of Professor Judea Pearl's seminal work on developing the Bayesian Networks framework for causal reasoning and decision making under uncertainty. Before this book was published, I sent an e-mail to Professor Koller requesting some clarification of her paper on object-oriented Bayesian networks; she was most generous in writing an elaborate reply with deliberate speed.

I randomly ran across this book in my math library trying to find an extra book to help with the difficult Stochastics Process class I was taking. Little did I know I would find a book I value as much as Douglas Kelly's Introduction to Probability. This book has applied problems and examples! It is not the dry, endless pages of confusing equations we have come to expect from Stochastics Processes books. There is something better out there! This book saved me as an undergraduate, and am now looking forward to it living up to my God like expecations as a post grad. If you are a professor, please use this book for you students. It ties together and lets you appreciate many fields such as linear analysis and even graph theory from computer science. This book will not disappoint.

This book presents applied probability and stochastic processes in an elementary but mathematically precise manner, with numerous examples and exercises to illustrate the range of engineering and science applications of the concepts. I have used several of George Omura's mastering AutoCAD books for different versions of the program over the years. All have provided the overview information right down to the intracies of AutoCAD. In addition the disk he includes has searchable pdf of the entire book, and lessons templates I find useful. I've never been an expert with this program but with Omura's text I can find the information and utilize the program to the ends I need.
It is an indespensible tool for me in creating construction drawings for small construction company and personal drawings.

One of the great concerns in view of the durabilityof reinforced concrete is the corrosion of steelreinforcement in concrete. RC structures exposed tochloride and high temperature environments like sea,deicing salts, deserts and industrial zones sufferfrom accelerated corrosion ofrebars. In this book, continuum models of re-entrantproduction systems are developed that treat the ?owof products in analogy to traffic ?ow. This work presents three modeling techniques appliedto natural resource economics. Chapter I makes use ofordinary least-squares regression analysis (OLS) toinvestigate the effects of climate warming onelectricity demand. Using hourly models and data forthe U.S. mid-Atlantic, the model predicts a 4.6%Chapter II offers an introduction to modeling withartificial neural networks (ANNs) for researchersfamiliar with OLS techniques. The general form of anANN is shown to be equivalent to a nested series ofOLS models. The forecasting exercise from Chapter Iis recast in the ANN framework to provide an exampleof applying ANNs to economic studies, including ananalysis of the forecast residuals. Chapter III presents a model of forest-landownerbehavior in the context of managing timberlandsubject to wildfire. The model is used to examine theimpacts of externalities associated with fire risk:(1) the public-good aspect of privately funded fireprevention, and (2) moral hazard associated withpublicly funded fire suppression. Chapter IIIconcludes with a consideration of policy options foraddressing these externalities.

I have used this book for 4 semesters to introduce Pro/ENGINEER part models, assemblies, and drawings. Students take the course with wide variety of backgrounds, some are previous users of Pro/ENGINEER, and some have no experience with any CAD program, and most have had some CAD experience. The tutorials are easy to follow, but not overly detailed. The problems presented at the end of each chapter allow the students to get enough practice and apply what the tutorials introduced. The best thing about the book is that the students seem to like it and are able to learn from it.

I am responsible for implimentating and intergrating a parametric, solid modeling, design system in our company. The biggest obstacle I faced is orenting a well entrenched, 2D oriented, staff of designers and engineers to accept a new way of thinking. We first tried a different parametric modeling program with the prescribed training porgram and the results was disastrous. The software provided the power bu the easy of use we needed and the training was lacking. Autodesk Inventor provides the ppower and the ease of use we needed.
If you are new to parametric modeling then the Inventor software and 'Parametric Modeling with Autodesk Inventor R2' by Randy Shih is a win-win combination. The real value of this book is the discussion of the theory behind the process. In one section Mr. Shih shows in flow chart form the developement of the modeling process. This is invaluable to the user. It's also something you don't get in the Autodesk training. We are planning to use this book as an additional training resource.
The step by step progression through the book brings the user from being imtimitated to being confident with this new software. The types of parts the user creates utilizes the features well. The bonus parts are a great addition, and allows the user to work on his/her own. I also use this book as a reference. It is well laid out and the subjects are easily found.
Autodesk Inventor is new and fast growing. Release 3 is out and R4 is scheduled for release in mid October 2000, with R5 scheduled by years end. If there is a drawback to this book it is because the software is growing faster than the publisher can update it.
In summary, I found this book to be well written and it's context to be pertinent. The author lays a sound foundation of understanding for the user to build on. I recomend this book highly.
